The MCLF conducts fundraising events every year to generate funds for its programs. These fundraisers include athletic events, evening galas, specialty theme parties and guest bartending nights. Funds used to advance the Foundation’s mission are raised by direct donation, as well as a number of social and athletic events. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, the MCLF has raised over $895,000 since its inception.The MCLF is always thinking of new ways to help the community. The Mike’s TEAM WFS Chapter Begins
Beginning on January 6th, the Wilmington Friends School is adopting the H. Fletcher Brown Boys & Girls Club by supporting their own Chapter of the Mike’s TEAM academic mentoring program at the Club! This Chapter will include a Junior Division that allows WFS students to mentor Club members in a group setting. Their group activities will focus on friendship, peace and community. All meetings will take place in the new Achievers Learning Center. The MLCF funded the renovation of the Achievers Learning & Skills Centers at the H. Fletcher Brown Club.
The BOSS Program Lauches
Beginning on January 22nd, the BOSS program will launch at the Clarence Fraim Boys & Girls Club. The pilot program will run for 12 weeks. Each Tuesday, Club members will learn basic computer coding principles using the Scratch program. Each Wednesday, they will learn entrepreneurial skills using an exciting new curriculum. All sessions will be taught by local volunteers from the technology industry, including employees from J.P. Morgan Chase and ETI, a software company based on Delaware.
The Mike’s TEAM MCLF Chapter Class of 2014 Graduates
On May 29th, the Mike’s TEAM MCLF Chapter Class of 2014 will conduct their graduation ceremony. Twenty-eight students will gather, with their mentors, parents and supporters to celebrate their accomplishments and conclude another successful year on Mike’s TEAM!
Third Annual Bike Across America Begins
On June 1st, Chuck Hall will embark on his journey across America to raise the awareness, and the funds, necessary to help Mike’s kids succeed. He will begin his journey in San Francisco, California and keep a daily blog about his adventures! Mike’s kids are excited to follow him across the United States.
